The Portland Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society is hosting our next flower show on May 11th-12th at Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden! Chapter members and the public alike are encouraged to enter plants from their garden for the chance to win a ribbon and/or trophy.
How to enter The Mother’s Day Flower Show
To enter, bring your flower truss to the Exhibit Hall at Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden on Saturday, May 12th before 8:30am.
How to choose a winning entry:
A truss is the ‘ball’ of flowers with a whorl of leaves below it.
1. Choose a truss at its peak of beauty.
2. Make sure flowers are free of damage and bug holes.
3. Leaves are free of holes or damage.
4. Leaves are even in size and spacing.
5. Clean up entry by removing spent flower casings and wiping dirt off leaves.
6. Bring flower name if you have it.
7. Tell Entry desk at the cool house if this is your first entry.
The Entry desk will help you enter your flower and may also identify your variety if you do not happen to know the name.
All entries are accepted at the Exhibit Hall (where the show is displayed) down in the Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden, 28th and SE Woodstock, Portland, Oregon. Tell the staff at the gate that you have entries to bring in to the ARS Portland Mother’s Day Show.
An ARS Portland volunteer can help answer your questions about entry at (503) 656-3891.
